Position: Director of Communications & PR

Job Description:
As the Director of Communications & PR for Las Vegas Lights FC, you will be responsible for shaping and managing the team's public image, securing local, regional, and national media coverage, and supporting the sporting department and players as the club’s press officer.
You will also work across the club’s business departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals. Your media relations expertise will be essential in driving the team's communication efforts and enhancing its brand presence in Las Vegas and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications and PR strategies to promote the team, players, matches, and business activities
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the team, handling media inquiries, interviews, and press conferences in coordination with team executives and head coach
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, national, and international media outlets and journalists to secure positive coverage and maximize media exposure
- Lead production of press releases, media kits, and other communication materials to communicate key messages and announcements
- Oversee matchday communications, including credential process, press box management, media coordination, player access, photography, stats, post-match press conferences, etc.
- Oversee content development for the club’s official website, ensuring fans are being served with relevant content and coverage
- Support the production of content for the club’s social media channel and other digital platforms
- Develop crisis communication plans and protocols and serve as the team's spokesperson in times of crisis or sensitive situations
- Provide strategic counsel to team executives and coaches on communication matters and represent the team at league meetings, events, and conferences
- Serve as a conduit to United Soccer League HQ’s communications team to ensure alignment with the League
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and sentiment to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with marketing, sponsorship, and community relations teams to integrate communication efforts and leverage opportunities for cross-promotion and brand partnership
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a communications or PR role, preferably within the sports industry
- Strong media relations skills with a network of contacts in sports and soccer media
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling press releases, articles, and other messaging
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute communication plans that align with organizational objectives
- Experience managing and mentoring communication teams, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and navigate fast-paced environments, including handling crisis communication situations
- Passion for soccer and a deep understanding of the sports industry landscape
